The big story about Obama's campaign on a national level seems to be the Gallup poll that shows him ahead of Clinton again, after a several week slip behind her. To be sure, this is welcome news for those of us in the Illinois Senator's corner, but there is more going on. You just have to follow the money.
It has been well reported that Obama has outraised Clinton for yet another consecutive month. It has been less reported, but still noted, that Obama's fundraising has come from a much larger number of people. Over a million contributors in March alone.
What has not been reported much is that he has raised more than Clinton in more places. In fact, Clinton outraised Obama in only 7 states and (quite decisively) in the District of Columbia. So, in 43 states, Obama raised more money than Clinton. These include red states such as Texas, Wyoming, Idaho, both Dakotas, and Indiana. It also includes alleged Clinton-stronghold Michigan where Obama raised 46% more than Clinton. Since I am a strong believer in data visualization, I decided to toss together a map of who was ahead where:

In this map, each state is colored a combination of blue (Obama) and green (Clinton), based on the relative fundraising strengths of the candidates in that state. There is pretty much only one strongly green state, Arkansas. DC would be even greener, but it sort of disappeared on the map. I'll do better next time. On the other hand there are a lot of strongly blue states.
Let's go, Obama!

Nice map, though a scale of some sort would really help.
